The secondary waves produce temporal and longitudinal variability that would not otherwise exist in the absence of wave-wave interactions, and thus add to the complexity of atmospheric dynamics at both planets. At Earth, this has implications for re-entry predictions and ionospheric variability, which translates to loss of integrity in communications, navigation and tracking systems.
