Moral Injury: Unseen Wounds of Healthcare Workers

One of the most important aspects of this topic is the role Moral Injury (MI) plays in our lives and the devastation it has when it is fully experienced by healthcare workers. There are long lasting physical and mental effects of MI and as we continue to navigate the ongoing pandemic, there is a great concern for the psychological well-being of our healthcare workers. MI is an invisible wound without a specific trigger or warning to indicate, something is wrong! So my work hinges on mental awareness and the somatic response MI triggers within individuals. This sets off reactions within the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems as well as a strong cerebral connection.
