This presentation examines the arguments of those who question the validity of neurological criteria for the determination of death, and propose that the dead donor rule should be abandoned. In response to these arguments, the presentation defends the view that brain death is indeed the death of the human organism, and thus that current practices of organ donation from brain-dead patients do not run afoul of the dead donor rule.
