Do personality disorders compromise leadership?

Abstract
Personality disorders often preclude effective leadership, as many examples of autocratic and immoral leaders demonstrate. But great leaders overcome their personality defects by invoking passion, courage, patience, and the collaboration of followers. This paper reviews current theories of leadership and proposes a model that explains why leaders succeed and fail.
