Abstract
Follicular unit excision (FUE) is currently the most widely performed hair transplant technique. Although it may appear to be a simple procedure involving small incisions in the scalp, it is, in fact, a comprehensive scientific discipline. With its increasing popularity, there has been a concomitant rise in the number of inadequately trained or poorly educated physicians performing the procedure, often leading to significant complications for patients. This article aims to review the existing scientific literature on FUE, highlighting best surgical practices to ensure the production of high-quality follicular units (FUs) while minimizing trauma to the donor area.
