About Edwin
Edwin Paterson Arnold, known as Ted Arnold, was a urologist and academic associated with the University of Otago in Christchurch, New Zealand, whose career focused on functional urology, urodynamics, and bladder care for people with neurological conditions. After graduating from Otago in 1960 and completing postgraduate training in the United Kingdom, he returned to New Zealand, where he established Australasia’s first urodynamic clinic before continuing his clinical, teaching, and research work in Christchurch. His contributions included research on urinary incontinence, spinal cord injury, and lower urinary tract dysfunction, alongside long-standing involvement with the International Continence Society, including serving as meeting chair for its 2006 Christchurch conference. Arnold also contributed to international terminology standards and continence research publications late in his career.
