Hugo A. Barrera-Saldana

Hugo A. Barrera-Saldaña is a professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the School of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, Mexico, where he also serves as Secretary for Science and Technology. His research focuses on biochemistry, molecular biology, genomics, and biotechnology, with particular contributions to the study of the human growth hormone gene family and its role in pregnancy. After earning his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, he pursued postdoctoral research with Pierre Chambon in Strasbourg, France. Throughout his career, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, contributed to biotechnology innovation, and established research and training initiatives in molecular biology and genomics.
