About MERAB
Merab G. Tsagareli is a neuroscientist and principal investigator at the Ivane Beritashvili Center of Experimental Biomedicine in Georgia, where he studies the neural mechanisms underlying pain and itch. His research focuses on transient receptor potential (TRP) channels and the roles of opioid and cannabinoid systems in the analgesic effects and tolerance associated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In addition to experimental neurobiology, his scholarly work explores the history of neuroscience, particularly Ivane Beritashvili’s contributions to theories of image-driven behavior. After studying biology at Tbilisi State University, he pursued advanced training in the physiology of higher brain functions at Lomonosov Moscow State University.
