Prof. Dr. MB Buchholz

Michael B. Buchholz is a Senior Professor at the International Psychoanalytic University Berlin, Germany, where his teaching and research explore psychoanalytic social psychology, human interaction, and the processes through which communication shapes psychological experience. His work combines psychoanalytic theory with qualitative methods, including conversation and narrative analysis, to examine therapeutic dialogue, unconscious processes, empathy, and the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. His research projects have investigated conversational aspects of the unconscious, empathy in psychotherapy, and the interplay of bodily experience and communication during initial psychoanalytic interviews. With a longstanding background in clinical practice and psychotherapy research, he has authored and co-edited numerous books and more than 150 journal articles, contributing to ongoing discussions about psychoanalysis and the social dimensions of human experience.
