Shamir O Cawich

Shamir O. Cawich is professor of liver and pancreatic surgery at The University of the West Indies and a consultant laparoscopic and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgeon at Port of Spain General Hospital. He completed surgical training at The UWI and advanced subspecialty training in laparoscopic liver, pancreatic, and biliary surgery at Southampton General Hospital in the United Kingdom. His clinical and research interests include hepatobiliary surgery, minimally invasive procedures, colorectal surgery, surgical technology, and the development of specialist services in the Caribbean. Cawich has contributed to the expansion of laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgery in the region and has held leadership responsibilities within Caribbean surgical education and professional organizations.
