1 Depression, anxiety, alcohol use and quality of life among social media users in Mexico during the COVID-19 pandemic (Keynote) / 2 Impact on morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19 according to the regulations on the use of face mask (Session presentation)

1 The COVID-19 pandemic had a tremendous impact in the physical and mental health of humankind. This work is a longitudinal study that measured the emotional response, alcohol use, and quality of life of social media users in Mexico. The participants responded to the Goldberg’s Anxiety and Depression Scale, AUDIT and SF-12, which were administered at four different periods (S1, S2, S3, S4) during 2020. The rate of probable anxiety and depressive disorders were high and increased through the study period. The former went from 65% to 81%, and the latter from 62% to 81%, with similar changes in the rate of alcohol use. Our findings highlight areas of opportunity and the need for evidence-based interventions, and the importance of making mental health care readily available / 2 Currently, the mask represents an incomparable symbol, whose value went from clinical work to impact the containment of the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This work aims to establish the impact of mask use policies on COVID-19 morbidity and mortality. The policy variables for the use of face masks werw obtained from the page of the scientific movement # masks4all and analyzed with the number of infections and deaths published by the Johns Hopkins University resource center and EndCoronavirus.org. The associations of the mask use policy with total cases (p 0.01), cases per million (p 0.04) and deaths per million inhabitants (p 0.02), were statistically significant; the associations of the variables with the trend of the epidemiological curve were also statistically significant (p 0.00).
