We must join forces with our patients: Coproduction, mental health, complex trauma and medical education

Trauma informed care is an approach to healthcare that is relevant to every student and practitioner of healthcare, no matter what their specialty because past trauma can show up in the physiology, psychology and social interactions between patients and professionals at any time. It is especially prevalent during times of stress such as we have experienced during the Covid pandemic. A GP and patients from London have been teaching other GPs, trainees and medical students about trauma informed care for the last few years and will present on our experiences and our feedback and hope to inspire others to do similar work themselves.
