Enquiries about Fellowship may be sent to the Society’s office at [email protected].
Is there a fee for Fellowship?
No. There is no application fee and no annual fee. Fellowship is held for as long as the Fellow’s membership of the Society remains active.
How are applications assessed?
Each criterion is verified against the Society’s membership and journal records. Where the records do not show a criterion, the Society will ask for evidence: a copy of the qualifying diploma with an English translation, a nomination form signed by a Fellow, or the manuscript ID of a completed review or the theme issue edited.
How long does a decision take?
Most applications are processed within seven days. Candidates are notified of the outcome by email.
What happens if my membership lapses?
The title is suspended while membership is inactive, and it is restored automatically if the Fellow rejoins within two years.
Can Fellowship be withdrawn?
Yes. The Society may withdraw Fellowship for research misconduct, a retraction for misconduct, or misuse of the title.
Will my name be published?
Yes. Fellows are listed in the public Register of Fellows on esmed.org.
What does Founding Fellow mean?
Those admitted in the founding round are entered in the Register as Founding Fellows. The same criteria and privileges apply to all Fellows.
