Recent research on how food environments, nutrition interventions, education, and sustainable food systems shape health across populations and life stages.
Adequate nutrition is fundamental to health, yet communities worldwide face overlapping challenges of undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, diet-related chronic disease, and unequal access to healthy food. These burdens are shaped by income, culture, education, urbanization, and the resilience of local food systems. Improving nutrition therefore requires action that connects individual care with schools, communities, agriculture, and public policy.
This theme issue brings together recent Medical Research Archives articles examining that broader landscape. The collection considers childhood growth and nutritional inadequacy in India, overnutrition and cardiovascular risk, urban agriculture and planetary processes, culturally grounded culinary medicine and education in Puerto Rico, school-based whole-grain learning, and the contribution of legumes to nutrient adequacy and diet quality. Together, the articles connect nutritional science with practical pathways toward healthier and more equitable food environments.
