Abstract

Duplication of the urinary collecting system with two ureters draining the kidney is a common congenital disorder of the urinary tract. The well-known Weigert-Meyer rule predicts the pattern of ureteral insertion into the bladder relative to the upper and lower poles of the kidney in a duplicated collecting system. We describe a case of a 19-month-old boy with a history of febrile urinary tract infections, vesicoureteral reflux into the upper pole of a duplicated collecting system, and ureteral insertion violating the Weigert-Meyer rule.
