01 · ABSTRACT

Abstract

Modern medicine primarily defines health by statistical reference ranges, often misinterpreting successful physiological compensation as biological wellness and failing to identify the progressive loss of resilience preceding chronic illness. To address this limitation, this paper introduces Lifestylopathy, a systems-based, thermodynamically oriented framework that redefines health as a dynamic state of adaptation where an organism's Potential Energy-its integrated reserve for restoring biological order-exceeds its Entropy Load, which represents the unavoidable metabolic costs of living and cumulative external stressors. Within this model, adaptive capacity emerges from the coordinated interaction of four foundational resources: chemical, physical, mental, and voluntary. These resources are consciously influenced by individuals through seven modifiable adaptive levers: breathing, nutrition, movement, sleep, communication, environmental exposure, and meaning. Crucially, the biological impact of these levers is governed by the principle of Compatibility, asserting that lifestyle interventions must align with an individual's unique genetics, life stage, and context to be biologically appropriate. Ultimately, Lifestylopathy complements contemporary clinical medicine by shifting healthcare's focus toward early health preservation and the proactive maintenance of adaptive resilience before compensatory mechanisms fail.
