About Akira
Akira Endo is affiliated with the Nuclear Science and Engineering Center at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency in Tokai, Japan, where he has served as director general of the center. His research has focused on radiation dosimetry, including the development of reference databases for assessing radiation doses in nuclear medicine, radiopharmaceutical research, and radiation protection. Through work on Auger electron data for microdosimetry and computer simulations of high-energy nuclear reactions in the human body, Endo contributed to the development of dosimetry databases in collaboration with the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and the International Commission on Radiological Protection. His contributions have been recognized with the Medal with Purple Ribbon, the Atomic Energy Society of Japan Award, and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Prize for Science and Technology.
