About Duraiyah
Duraiyah Thangathurai, MD, is a professor of clinical anesthesiology at the University of Southern California, with joint appointments in urology and surgery. His clinical practice encompasses anesthetic care for high-risk cancer patients, acute pain management, addiction medicine, and end-of-life care. After medical training at the University of Ceylon in Sri Lanka, he pursued further training in the United Kingdom before completing an anesthesiology fellowship at UCLA Medical Center in 1982–1983. Thangathurai holds professional certifications in anesthesiology, pain medicine, and critical care medicine, and maintains memberships in organizations including the California Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Academy of Pain Medicine.
