Yes. All articles are fully open access with no embargo period.
Yes, submissions from non-members are welcome.
The journal is partially indexed in PubMed. Articles and research funded by the NIH, CDC, FDA, and these 35 other organizations are eligible for PubMed indexing.
Yes, every article published in the journal receives a DOI. In some cases it can take up to 48 hours after publication before the DOI link becomes active.
Peer-review
Yes. All articles go through a double blind peer-review process.
We do our best to assign reviewers to a manuscript before it is even submitted, to reduce delays. Peer-review typically takes no more than 30 days.
In the event that a manuscript submitted to the journal does not pass peer-review, we always provide the author with detailed feedback and the option to revise the manuscript for a second round of peer-review. The following are some of the most common reasons we cannot accept a manuscript for publication:
- The manuscript lacks required sections such as an abstract or conclusion
- The wrong reference/citation format was used
- The dataset used is many years old and may not be relevant today
- The methods section lacks important details such as the sample size or statistical methods used
Fees
No. There is however a publication fee charged for publication of articles by non-members.
Yes, members of the European Society of Medicine can publish in the society’s journal free of charge (up to 3 times per year for most memberships).
The only requirement is that the membership must be active prior to submission of the manuscript.

In most circumstances membership fees and publication fees are non-refundable. Refunds can only be made in accordance with the Membership Guarantee.
