01 · ABSTRACT
Abstract
Reaching a diagnosis requires a disciplined approach to assimilate symptoms and physical findings to limit the diagnostic possibilities and proceed to efficient use of diagnostic testing. The mindset that common things are common runs the risk of missing or delaying the diagnosis of important but rare diseases. The introduction of artificial intelligence in the diagnostic process could potentially serve to mitigate the risk of delayed diagnosis but comes with its own caveats.
