About Aleksandra
Aleksandra E. Zgierska, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist at Penn State College of Medicine, where she is the Jeanne L. and Thomas L. Leaman, MD, Endowed Professor and vice chair for research in Family and Community Medicine. She is also a professor of Public Health Sciences and Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. Board-certified in family medicine and addiction medicine, she studies addiction and chronic pain through randomized trials, health services research, and community-engaged approaches. Her notable work includes leadership of the Community-Engaged Research Core at Penn State's Clinical and Translational Science Institute and service as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Her research seeks to improve health outcomes for people affected by substance use and pain.
