Professor John P. Burke is a consultant colorectal surgeon at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, where his clinical practice encompasses colorectal and general surgery. His areas of expertise include colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, anorectal conditions, endoscopy, and minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopic hernia repair and gallbladder surgery. After graduating with honours from University College Dublin in 2004, he completed higher surgical training in Ireland and pursued fellowships in advanced colorectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and minimally invasive rectal cancer surgery in Orlando, Florida. Alongside his clinical work, Burke has published more than 180 research papers and book chapters, serves as an editor for Colorectal Disease, and contributes to European clinical guidance on rectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease.
