About Niamh
Niamh McCawley is a consultant general and colorectal surgeon at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, where her clinical practice includes laparoscopic surgery, colorectal conditions, endoscopy, and disorders of the pelvic floor. Her specialist interests include colorectal cancer, faecal incontinence, and proctology, alongside the management of general surgical conditions. After graduating with honours from University College Dublin in 2004, she completed higher surgical training in Ireland and earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland for research into novel treatments for colon cancer. Further specialist training through European Society of Coloproctology and Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland fellowships in Poitiers, France, supports her work in colorectal surgery, and she also serves as an honorary senior lecturer at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
