About Lauri

Lauri M. Baker, PhD, is a professor in the University of Florida’s Department of Agricultural Education and Communication. Her research examines strategic communication, audience analysis, public engagement with science, agricultural risk communication, and the ways media shape understanding of complex issues. She has contributed to scholarship on communication preferences, technology, and the relationship between public information and local economies. Her teaching and research support evidence-based approaches to communicating science and agriculture clearly, responsibly, and effectively. She also mentors graduate researchers working across agricultural communication, leadership development, and extension education.
