About Matthew
Matthew Smuck, MD, is chief of physical medicine and rehabilitation, professor, and vice chair of orthopaedic surgery at Stanford University. He specializes in the conservative management of spine disorders and leads rehabilitation services at Stanford. His research and clinical work address spine care, pain, musculoskeletal health, functional recovery, and the use of data to improve patient outcomes. He has authored more than 100 publications, contributed to spine-care guidelines, and served in leadership roles with the International Pain and Spine Intervention Society, The Spine Journal, and the North American Spine Society.
