About Carla
Carla VandeWeerd, PhD, is an associate professor and director of the University of Florida Precision Health Research Center in The Villages. Her work focuses on the intersection of data, technology, healthcare, and aging. She has led community-engaged studies involving tens of thousands of older adults and has developed research programs in digital health, brain health, remote monitoring, and clinical technology evaluation. A mixed-methods researcher, she combines surveys, interviews, clinical trials, and analytics to understand how innovations can improve care. She also mentors interdisciplinary teams working across public health, engineering, gerontology, and behavioral science.
