Surgical Oncologists: An Endangered Species at the Time of De-Escalation
Main Article Content
Abstract
At the same time, 4 times as many surgeons and 5.5 times as many anaesthetists would be needed to treat all these new cancers at a time when the number of new cancer surgeons is decreasing in Western countries. The attraction of cancer specialties is going less and less in a way that for instance the first choices of residents in France are mostly plastic and aesthetic surgery, dermatology and ophthalmology, no emergencies, week-ends free and high income. These are the dreams of our young colleagues!
