About Stacie

Stacie Geller, PhD, is the G. William Arends Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of the Center for Research on Women and Gender at the University of Illinois Chicago. For more than two decades, her research has addressed maternal morbidity and mortality, early recognition of high-risk pregnancy, reproductive health, and inequities in care. She helped develop review processes for severe maternal morbidity and maternal deaths in Illinois, and her methods have informed national practice. Her current work includes initiatives addressing racial disparities, housing insecurity during pregnancy, and emergency care for pregnant and postpartum patients.
