Fahmida Begum

Fahmida Begum is Associate Professor of Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Bangladesh Medical University in Dhaka, formerly Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. Her specialty is pediatric digestive and hepatobiliary disease, with research interests in pancreatitis, chronic liver disease, cholestasis, viral hepatitis, Wilson disease, glycogen storage disease, and pediatric endoscopy. Her published work includes studies of pediatric colonoscopy, urinary copper and zinc ratio for Wilson disease, clinical characteristics of glycogen storage disease, and pancreatitis in Bangladeshi children. She has also contributed reviews on chronic hepatitis B and C, childhood diarrhea, and pediatric pancreatitis. In July 2026, she joined a tertiary-care study of pediatric UTI microbiology and antibiotic susceptibility in Bangladesh.
